Story:
I wanted to prepare a few affiliate sales for this Christmas in a very quick BUT still professional looking mode.

I decided to look for some products on Amazon, that I felt will have great sales during this season.

I needed a website that will take the Amazon feed and added the products to my own customized e-commerce shopping cart system.

Resources:
I found a few options; among them, the obvious Amazon’s aStore, but without any Google ‘LOVE’ built into it… I hoped to find something better and easier to build than my own html single product page websites.

Therefore I’ve chosen WordPress and happily went shopping around for themes or plugins to do the job. I needed a WordPress e-Commerce Theme or WordPress Plugin with Shopping Cart capabilities, but also with datafeed added products if possible.

Findings:
I stopped after reading a lot about this topic and decided to try two of the best looking WP shopping cart template themes, IMHO:

and

for the moment, installing the first one.

I will keep you updated on my dealings with this and according to the time I’ve spent on it, I’ll write here my future findings.

An Australian company is selling Twitter follower packages

Twitter is swarming with high profile people nowadays – celebrities, companies, well known brands, but even your front door neighbour and their dog wants a piece of the pie, isn’t it?

The Twitter crowd called ‘tweeple’ consists mostly of the average Joe’s and Jane’s wanting to become the next success story. This is true for companies, alike. Big, small, known, unknown, no matter their size or exposure, they all want to grab as big a ‘virtual real estate’ as they could on Twitter, the hottest online property at the moment.

Therefore comes the need to measure this and it is the simplest way to do so by comparing the number of followers each of them have.

Kinda like ‘size does matter’, right? Let’s put it on the table, folks, for everybody to see: my… followers list is bigger!

But how to get more followers, exactly? What to do to grow your followers list substantially? How to get more followers FAST ?

Their packages start from $87 for 1,000 followers and they move up to the 100,000 followers deluxe package. Each of them come also with a delivery deadline (i.e. 7 days for starting package), which is very handy for business minded people, trying to
assemble a marketing plan.

At first sight, some may say that this is somewhat ‘un-ethical’ or at least objectionable — assigning a ‘value to a follower, as in $.10 each?

But the mentioned company uses a special system that finds and matches users to its customers by searching for common interests. When they find a Twitter user sharing the same interests as their customer, they are asked if they wish to follow that particular customer’s account; seeing it this way, definitely, it’s not spam.

Others see this as a marketing scheme that is trying to subvert a popular tool (Twitter) into a self-serving device… Well, I couldn’t disagree more — nobody forces the followers to stay ‘listed’ and furthermore, they may unfollow immediately any account that looks like spamming them.

It’s like saying that radio stations selling advertisements are submining the free use of radio waves with their comercials? Man… shut off the radio if you don’t like it!

We are all witnessing Twitter growing with light-speed and there is yet no monetizing plan revealed until now. I bet they have something in mind, but for now… it’s good to see the growth of third-party providers, building their own services around Twitter. Many people may benefit from that.

This new service claims to have already more than 150 customers that had bought followers and had another 80-90 campaigns about to roll out. Their CEO, Mr. Leon Hill, said they have a broad range of clients including educational organisations, companies and marketing firms.

“A woman who runs yoga classes is one of our clients,” he said. “So are some religious organisations including one man that just wants to get the word out about God.”

It’s Good to Know: Twitter Tool Gadget – The Twitter Bakery

Finally, a genuinely Twitter Tool emerged, a valuable use for the social networking platform Twitter, with the help of a new gadget.

Using a small wireless device known as the BakerTweet, a London bakery
recently started sending out “tweets” to let customers know when its goodies were hitting the shelves.

Sample message: “Lovely loaves just out of the oven. Hurry.”
The bakery owners report that the tweeted items have been selling out within minutes.

Meanwhile, the creators of BakerTweet hope to extend coverage to other bakeries in the city.
It would be interesting to see the impact of the new Twitter Tool gadget on the market…
